6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory (1 Cor. 2:6-7). . .
Today, I went on a little exploration. I have been experiencing trouble getting in the Word lately. I have felt distracted and fatigued, but here I am. Because of this struggle to read (and study!) my Bible, I opted to use the “Interlinear Bible” on Bible Study Tools. This is a place I love to visit, because it helps me to dig deeper into the Word of God.
I wanted to focus on the word “wisdom” today, so I looked up the Bible verses relating to it.
The Bible has so much to teach us about the wisdom of God, and why God’s wisdom is far better than what this world has to offer us!
The God we know, love, and serve is all powerful, and wants to share His great wisdom and knowledge with us. Remember what it says in John 1, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name (1:12).”
As our heavenly Father, He is giving us the ability to ask and receive all that is His – including wisdom. Are you ready to receive what God has to say about His wisdom, and how it differs from this world’s?
Is God’s wisdom the same as man’s?
20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe (1 Cor. 1:20-21).
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! (Romans 11:33)
God is ready to give us His wisdom.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him (James 1:5).
for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist (Luke 21:15).
Examples of how God has shared His wisdom
[God] delivered [Joseph] out of all his troubles, and gave him favor and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house (Acts 7:10)
And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and deeds (vv. 22).
Using God’s wisdom to worship Him
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord (Col. 3:16).
Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time (4:5).
