Keep Choosing

There is just something about this Scripture. In Psalm 42, the psalmist is profoundly discouraged. And he tried to remind himself of our Lord’s amazing and timeless truths!

We are given this opportunity to take our discouragement and whatever we are feeling, and bring it to God. But, we can experience the joy and peace that accompany placing our hope in Christ Jesus!

It is only a few verses away where we read about the turmoil they are facing, but then they do something unexpected. Something only the Lord Jesus can do in our hearts and lives.

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and

I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me. But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.

Psalms 42:5‭, ‬7‭-‬8 NLT

They remember God’s unfailing love and it is being poured over their lives. So they give the Lord praise.

The psalmist’s circumstances didn’t miraculously change over night. Their discouragement from life hitting them – was still present, But they chose to remember the Lord and to praise Him for who He is.

In our circumstances, sometimes, it can feel as though we are drowning. But our God and His limitless unfailing love is being poured over us. And yes, even if we don’t feel it.

Our God stays the same! He never changes and is the One giving us strength when life gets hard. He is the One there for us on good or bad days. He is worthy of our praise. And perhaps, that worship time in the midst of our valley – is just what we need to keep choosing Jesus. Allow Him to pour into you through the reading of His Word (Bible) and meet with Him (prayer), so you aren’t running around on E – risking a breakdown.
