Enemies We Cannot See

“Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident (Psalm 27:3, NLT).”

Currently, we are in a worldwide pandemic – where many are afraid and less than confident about their future. Something we must ask ourselves is: How am I going to respond to today’s circumstances?

While we may be facing enemies we cannot physically see, its ramifications are seen and felt. Many are becoming seriously ill from a rampant respiratory virus. As I write this, I am reminded of Ephesians 6 where we learn of a different, yet unseen, enemy.

10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

But each of us are given many choices to be unafraid and confident in the God we know, love, and serve who sent His Son Jesus Christ to be the Savior of the world. And through Jesus Christ, we have our “here and now” life. But, we also have eternal life that no one on earth can take from us.

This is our reminder to fight well. As we “stay at home”, in effort to control the virus outbreak and profoundly love (and protect) our loved ones, may we devote much more time to sit at Jesus’ feet!

May we choose in this moment to trust the God we know, instead of fearing the enemy we don’t. I know, we are living in fiercely scary times. I don’t know what the future holds for any of us, but I know the One who does. Our Mighty God is in full control, and worthy of our trust, time, and energy to get closer to Him.

Hang in there, my friends.
