#25 (Summer Series ’19)

June 25 2019

Thank You, Lord.
Thank You for Your divine grace.
Lord, You are SO good to us!

Today’s Reading is: Habakkuk 1 and Psalm 119:7-8.

“With an upright heart, I will praise You as I learn how to live for You – my God and King! I will keep Your Word. Don’t forget about me, Lord!” (Psalm 119:7-8, paraphrase)

The Bible is important, for it teaches me about God and how much I need Him. I desperately need King Jesus and for Him to save me on a daily – even hourly- basis. Worship needs to be the garment that clothes my life, as I seek His holiness rather than my own happiness. I need to seek our Lord Jesus, each day. I want to praise Him with a honorable heart. I want to keep His Word. I want for Him not to forget about me. The more I dig into the Word of God, the more I can grow closer in my relationship with our Mighty God!

The best way to worship our God is with a heart that does what is right. How are we living when we are not praising or sitting in church? How can we worship the Lord in our every day decisions? We are taught that we need a heart that follows the straight and narrow path. This path, we know, is the One our Lord Jesus Christ leads us on. It is the road few want to follow, because they often prefer fleshly happiness rather than spiritual holiness. May we choose our Lord Jesus over our fleshly wants.

If we want Him not to forget about us, shouldn’t we be intentional in how we live? Choosing to not forget about our Mighty God? He has gone through SO much on our behalf.

Remember the cross we were supposed to carry? Only our Lord Jesus painfully carried it for us. He has gone through SO much for my sake. I need to make sure I keep making choices to spend with our Lord. I need to keep drawing near. I need to keep talking with Hin in prayer throughout the day. I need to keep pursuing spiritual growth over whatever distractions come my way.

“At midnight I rise to praise You, because of Your righteous rules.” – Ps. 119:62

“I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep Your righteous rules.” – Ps. 119:102

In Exodus, Moses told the people all the words of the Lord, and the people gave their word that they would follow the Lord in doing what He has stated! (24:3) How often do we give our word to God or others, making a vow that maybe we should live out before we vocalize? Show the Lord by following Him in what the Bible teaches us? Show our loved ones we care by our actions versus saying we care?

“Do not forsake me, O Lord! O my God, be not far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!” – Ps. 38:21-22

“Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent.” – Psalm 71:9

“So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim Your might to another generation, Your power to all those to come.” – Ps. 71:18
