Gracefully Overcoming

Living in the Confidence and Hope Found in Christ Alone!

Get Cozy with God {Part 1 // Diving Into The Corinthians}

Good Morning, my dear friends ♥

Today is our big day! We begin to walk through the book of Corinthians word-by-word or perhaps phrase-by-phrase (click here to purchase your manuscript styled journal). I think you all will enjoy this mode of Bible study, as we “Dive Into The Corinthians”.

My goal in each personal quiet time session is to – simply meet with the Lord Jesus right where I am. I may not feel well physically or be severely stressed. I may rather watch Netflix. Even so I come and meet Him where I am, and learn to live out 1 Peter 5:7 in this sacred time.

Give all your worries to him [Cast all your anxiety on him], because he cares about you (EXB).

The Honest Struggle

Today’s quiet time got off to a rough start. It’s not from this or that. I just struggled to get plugged into the Word.

Do you ever struggle with your heart/mind elsewhere? How do you work through it t to meet with our Lord? Comment below to share your tips.

By the Lord’s great grace, I finally got there. I am thankful for His mercy and help. He not only teaches us we need to draw near to Him (James 4:8), He will see our willing yet wandering hearts and help us to do so!

My Weekly Outline

I wanted to take a few moments and just show you what my quiet time looked like. This is my personal outline for this week.

Monday – 1 Corinthians 1:1-3
Tuesday – 1 Corinthians 1:4-9
Wednesday – 1 Corinthians 1:10-13
Thursday – 1 Corinthians 1:14-17
Friday – 1 Corinthians 1:18-25
Saturday – 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
Sunday – Meditate on chapter 1

Today’s Study

One thing I discovered as I was beginning my study was the lack of passion involved in my study. As I looked out at my materials, I realized I was missing my coloring pencils and highlights. So once I was able to gather those, I had a lot more fun diving into the Word of God.

Today’s focus was just how the absolute transformation God takes us through – as those who have called upon the name of the Lord Jesus and have chosen to follow Him in our lives.

If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water (John 4:10, NIV).

This gift has been extended to us as well. We have been given the opportunity to hear the Good News that our Lord Jesus Christ saves, and receive this same invitation echoed throughout history. Isaiah 55 reminds us of this amazingly wonderful gift too.

Why do you spend . . . your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live. . . (vv. 2-3a, NKJV)

Be sure to come back this afternoon for part two, as we will begin to walk through 1 Corinthians 1:1-3.

In Him,
