Hi friends! For the months of May/June, we will be using a reading plan given to us by Sweet to the Soul Ministries. Feel free to stroll through their Facebook page and blog. They even have a journaling kit and Bible study for this month’s plan!
The influential woman is not always on-the-go. I know, many of us have this mentality of becoming this amazing superwoman – that never stops. However as women loved by Jesus, we need to remember to stop and sit at His feet.
The Necessity of Prayer –
Pray constantly (1 Thessalonians 5:17, CEB)
Always keep on praying (TLB).
Let’s be women who are serious about their relationship with Jesus Christ! While we are going to talk about praying, as given to us by today’s verse, let’s focus on fellowshipping with Jesus.
Remember the words we find in 1 John 1:3b – “And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.” We have been given honest fellowship with God, because Jesus has cleansed us of all sin.
The Choice –
In Luke 10:38-42, we are given this contrast between always serving and deliberating entering a space where it is just us and Jesus. It’s here we learn that fellowshipping with Jesus is the one needed thing.
More than anything, we need to make Bible study and prayer a daily reality in our lives and make our fellowship with Jesus – the priority. We need to push the invisible pause button, and sit down to be with Jesus. This is of greater importance.
The Challenge –
The Holy Spirit is beckoning us to come. Just come. Let’s lay everything else aside, and spend this time with our Beloved Savior. It’s needed, and can change our lives! It changed Mary’s life (see Luke passage), because she took the time to spend with Jesus.
Prayer, as many of us have experienced, is powerful. It is powerful, because we are calling upon the God of all nations to work on our behalf.
Prayer is simply fellowshiping with Jesus. It is choosing to use the Holy Spirit to call up Jesus, and have a needed conversation. While our lives may be spiraling out of control with overextending ourselves, take a step back to just seek Jesus and allow Him to direct your path. This is when we can make the biggest difference. We have to work on our own selves, before we can influence others – for His Kingdom!
Sisters, we need to be praying women. We need to be women who choose to converse with our Lord Jesus. As we pray, God is going to work miracles on our behalf. Without making prayer a daily “must” in our lives, we are operating in our own strength.
We are daughters of God, based on our faith in Jesus Christ. We can “get by” on scraps we find here and there, or just maybe we can choose to answer the invitation to enter the feast given to us by King Jesus. We have to ask ourselves one question:
Will we live like daughters of the Most High God, or live like poor servants who have to frantically search to get by?
