Experiencing the Beauty of... Isaiah 40

Intentional Worship {{Week 1}}

Hi Friends!

Welcome to the second installment of our Isaiah 40 blog series. Today, I want to share some of my own thoughts on today’s passage. Grab your Bibles and journals, and let’s get started. If you are new to our Isaiah study, please join us! We would love to have you. Over the next four weeks, we are studying Isaiah 40 – using social media and our blog (links are end of today’s post).

Scripture: Isaiah 40:6 and Job 14:1-2.

When we compare our lives with that of our Creator, we are reminded how short our human life is. Our lives, and their beauty, quickly fades away.

Be Present in Today

We need to enjoy today.

Instead of looking forward to plans of my future, I need to focus my attention on today. God meets me here, in this place, today.

Life is quickly passing me by, and I can worship God right where I am. I don’t have to wait for circumstances to change.

I have all I need – to worship God in my exact circumstances.

It isn’t about postponing worship until something incredible happens, but seeing how God is at work – right where I am. I need to worship and love God in this very place. I need to accept the challenge of learning how to praise God and see His handiwork, even when circumstances look messy.

Worship God in All Circumstances

Sometimes, I am not sure what God is doing. Okay, often times, I have no idea what God is doing. But, I can choose to worship God in this very place. It is here He is meeting with me. It is here He is carrying me. It is here, that He will perform the great unveiling – where He allows me to see Him and have my faith stretched. It is here, where I learn all about God and His heart for His people.

Don’t Wait to Worship

I am reminded that God met Hagar (Gen. 16), who did not walk with Yahweh, in a desert place and that’s where she worshiped Him. She didn’t wait until she left that place – in order to worship Him. Our lives should be like that. Our lives are short, but we can make the most of everything – through worshiping our Savior.

His Word is eternal, and He is working. Trust God and worship Him – because life is short. Knowing life’s short can enhance our worship.

So, let’s…

  • take notice of flowers in the yard and praise God.
  • listen to the silence of our home, and praise God.
  • take a moonlight walk, and praise God.
  • greet that difficult person, and praise God.
Life is short, so let’s keep seeking God. Let’s pray, and ask God to help us to worship Him – right where we are.
