For the month of October, I am joining many bloggers in a challenge to write every single day for 31 days. I learned about this challenge through another challenge I participate in most weeks. The “Five Minute Friday” challenge is going to expand to last the whole month! Each entry, will be five minutes unedited of writing on a particular theme – found on Kate’s blog.Today’s theme is “patience.”
A few days ago, I mentioned the patience of God. I want to continue our discussion on His patience. In 2 Peter 3, we read these words.
Remember [Consider; Bear in mind] that ·we are saved because our Lord is patient [L our Lord’s patience is our salvation; C his delay in coming allows more to be saved] (vv. 15a, EXB).
How have we considered the Lord’s patience with us? Often times, we want others’ patience. Rarely, do we want to give it. Patience is a characteristic God imparts to His children. God has been so patient with us.
God’s Patience with the Wicked
In the book of Genesis, we see where God remained patient with Noah’s generation, until it was the appropriate time for judgment. If He hadn’t been patient where would Noah have been. Likewise, where we would be without the Lord’s patience?
God’s patience means the world to us. Or, it should. At times, we forget what we have been spared from. We need to remember. Now. Today. Right now, we need to take time and get on our knees – pleading with God to remind us and gather gratitude that only He can give to us.
God has been so patient with us.
Responding Through Worship
Let’s take this time to just worship Him. If God had not been patient with us, none of us would be here right now. God is our loving Father who is so patient with us.
Still, He could allow us to face judgment instead of grace. Even in patience, waiting for the right time. From a human standpoint, we wait patiently at times – waiting for judgment to come upon our enemies. Longing for it. This is not the kind of patience God has for us. If this was so, He definitely would not call us His children.
He is patient.
He is longing for us to come to Him.
He wants all to experience His Awesome salvation.
Come to Jesus today! There is room, for all.
