I Will Praise You in the Storm (A BookLook Review)

I Will Praise You in the StormI Will Praise You in the Storm is the memoir of a family who has endured illness and grief when their loved ones, Stephen and Holly, no longer call earth their home. Stephen and Holly, both, struggled with familial intrahepatic cholestatic, a rare form of chronic active hepatitis. While in the book, he shares what his children faced, this is about his faith and how God got his family through this incredibly difficult time. In this book, Danny shares his testimony to God’s goodness, faithfulness, sovereignty.

“Moreover, because God is good, full of love,
and controls everything that happens in my life,
I can say confidently without hesitation, “I will
praise You in the storm (p. 184).”

My Thoughts

Honestly, I could not put it down. The book, penned by Danny Deaubé, is captivating, as he tells the story of his family. It is not solely his own story, but a collective effort as he and his wife recount years of memories that Holly and Stephen left behind. While they faced great tragedies through the sickness and death of their two children, they have clung to God. Their trials have shown that faith in Jesus Christ can endure and stay ignited, even during the hardest of times.

Highly Recommend

This is the kind of book that people, like me, need to read while facing trials in their lives. Our trials don’t have to be a time of faithlessness. We can continue to see the evidence that God is good – regardless of what our circumstances are. God’s goodness is there from infancy until the day we transfer from earth into eternity in heaven. God is good. Because He is good, He has given us a Savior, Jesus Christ, and stays by our side strengthening us.

“For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation (Ps. 100:5, NLT).”

    1. God taught me much in the book! I am grateful God led you to write about what your family has gone through, but also how you can testify God’s faithfulness in it all… It felt as though I was grieving alongside, as I read. And, I have only been privileged to read your family’s testimony. Your book will touch many.
