Rejuvenated in Trials

Sometimes, there are

no words

when we find ourselves weathering a storm.

All we can do is, stand still when the storm comes raging – pushing up against the storm with our strength and the strength that our great God so generously lends to His children in need.

Learning to Hang On…

We just have to keep hanging on.

A piece of advice: Don’t look to the left, and how person A is handling their storm. Don’t look to the right, and how person C is handling their storm.

Just focus on Christ. Just focus on where He has you right now. Getting discouraged by what others are doing (that you aren’t), will do absolutely nothing for you (or, it didn’t for me). Just keep your focus on Christ (which of an eternal benefit – see Colossians 3:1-2). As long as you focus on Christ, you are good. You know, you have the resources (Christ – His Holy Spirit) to tackle what you are currently facing.

Facing Our Trial…

God has each of us in a different spot.
Our trial doesn’t need to be extra difficult, by comparing ourselves to others.

While the storm will come, even greater than we might have remembered it being, we just have to hang on. As we hang on, keep holding onto Jesus. Bringing to Him your questions… doubts… honest pleas… burdens. Keep bringing yourself to get in His Word (somehow).

Wherever You Are…

Wherever you find yourselves, just come to Him. Just come to Jesus.

He invites us to come just as we are.

The Word of Life…

Jesus gives to us words of Truth and Life, that will rejuvenate our spirits and give us the strength we need.

He is the place of rest – true rest.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28, NIV).”

Think about those two words: weary and burdened. Weary, meaning “exhausted from the journey (NIV Application Commentary)”. Burdened, meaning “weighted down with heavy loads.” Anyone feeling this way? While we can fess up to it (hopefully), we have to bring ourselves to knowing we wrestle with running to our place of rest – to Jesus. We fight it. We try to fight our own battles. And, how is that working out for us? Not particularly well, is it?

The Truth Concerning Jesus…

Jesus, our place of rest, our Savior and Restorer. He tells us that, while we will still have problems (see John 16:33), we can have peace, rest, strength, and can even become “more than conquerors”. The offer made in Jeremiah 31:25 is given to us:

“I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”

Keep holding onto Jesus, my friends.
Share your heavy load with your Creator.
Let Him satisfy and refresh you – like only He can!

Keep taking Him at His Word. He isn’t like ours, where it isn’t 100% effective. He proves His Word to be true – time and time again.

“God’s way is perfect. All the LORD’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection (Psalm 18:30, NLT).”
