Five Minute Friday – Try

Five-Minute-Friday-4-300x300Welcome to this week’s edition of Friday Minute Friday! This week’s theme is “try”. To learn more about Five Minute Friday, please visit Kate’s blog for more details…

Try can be defined as “keep going”. What happens when you try? Recently, I have been tried. It has taken effort to just keep going in good spirits.

When life overwhelms us…

When circumstances feel as though they are on the winning side of the scale…

We can rest in knowing who ultimately wins.

God wins.

While we may be tried,

While we may have to keep trying, keep enduring, God is on our side and we know He holds the trophy awarded to the victorious. In fact, He is the best reward we could ask for. Our relationship with God through Jesus Christ, His Son – our Savior.

Where do we turn when we feel tired of trying? I need help remembering that my trying efforts do matter. I bet you do too. I need help remembering that my focus needs to be on the things above, not on the things surrounding me (see Colossians 3:1-2).

When circumstances have tried you,

When it takes all you got to keep walking in faith,

Remember these important truth that breathes life into our spirits.

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold–though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world (1 Peter 1:7, NLT).

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1:2-4, ESV).

The trying of our faith doesn’t last for forever, but their rewards do.

Hold on, dear friend. Together, with Christ, we can keep trying. In His strength, we are more than conquerors over our situations.

While we are tried in our situations, we can rest assured… There is something greater tried.

‘As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the LORD is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him (Psalm 18:39, NASB).’

  1. Your blog post about trying is just what I needed to see, to counteract my post about trying. I am Christian but I am not actively seeking God and your post has reminded me that I need to do that in my everyday life, not just when I feel like it. Thank you for sharing.
